About
I represented Australia in wheelchair basketball for 17 years and before becoming a mama and I used to think that playing sport was the best job in the world!
After settling into motherhood I found I had a lot more time on my hands without sport dominating my life. Anyone that knows my husband knows that hobbies are his thing; gardening, metal detecting, bee keeping, knitting, spinning wool, boat restoration/making - the list goes on, he is always busy with projects. Without basketball I needed to find some hobbies of my own.
In the back of my mind pottery was always something I thought I would enjoy, but I could never find the time to fit a six week intro course into my travel schedule. In between 2020 lockdowns I started, paused for lockdowns, re-started, paused for another lockdown and re-started then finally made it through my first beginners pottery course. I fell in love hard and fast.
Moving house late in 2020 I quickly snagged the original outdoor laundry, brought myself a wheel, glazes and some clay and had myself up a pottery studio!
I love making functional, beautiful items for my home and seeing them in others homes bring me so much joy!
Fastforward another two years, baby number two is here and I needed a creative outlet that I could pick up and put down at a moments notice. Absolutely not something you can do in the midst of a messy clay session! My first mosaic was a glass butterfly for a special friend and I haven’t stopped since!
I love Mosaics because not only are they beautiful pieces of art, a chance for complete mindfulness but I have found a solution to using all those broken pots and kiln fails! Everything can be repurposed!
I want to share my creations (as my daughter calls them) and bring a little bit of joy to your home too with my unique, handmade art.
